simoleo89 1d580e6d24 refactor(navigator): migrate all 13 consumers off useNavigator god-hook
Mechanical swap to the new filter hooks landed in the previous commits:
- NavigatorDoorStateView -> useDoorState (snapshot/setSnapshot/reset)
- NavigatorView -> useNavigatorData + useNavigatorUiState +
  useNavigatorActions + direct useNavigatorUiStore.getState() in handlers
  (linkTracker collapsed to a dispatch table; 9 useState gone)
- NavigatorSearchView -> useNavigatorData + useNavigatorActions
  (sendSearch prop drilling removed)
- NavigatorSearchResultItemView -> useDoorState (setSnapshot aliased as
  setDoorData; call sites unchanged - DoorStateSnapshot is compatible)
- 9 bulk consumers (one-line import swap) -> useNavigatorData

Zero behavioural change intended. yarn typecheck + yarn test --run +
yarn lint:hooks all clean on this commit.

simoleo89 888a6a3255 feat(avatar-info): make Give/Remove Rights instantly reactive
Replaced the cached `avatarInfo.targetRoomControllerLevel` derivation
with a local `controllerLevel` state that:
- starts from the popup-open snapshot
- listens to FlatControllerAddedEvent / FlatControllerRemovedEvent
  filtered by avatarInfo.webID
- is optimistically bumped on `give_rights` / `remove_rights` clicks
  so the moderate submenu flips immediately without waiting for the
  server roundtrip

Same shape as the recent useIsUserIgnored migration: the popup now
auto-flips the button without forcing the user to close+reopen it.

simoleo89 c7e258e3d1 feat(hooks): permission-driven gating via useHasPermission
Replace the rank-level family (useHasRankLevel + STAFF_LEVELS
constants + useIsRank) with a permission-driven family that reads
straight from the deployment's `permission_definitions` table — no
more hardcoded SecurityLevel/rank-id thresholds on the client. A new
rank in permission_ranks or a re-shuffling of permission_definitions
rank columns now propagates through the UI automatically.

Renderer-side wire shipped in companion commit
feat/react19-event-bus@159c5eb (UserPermissionsMapParser + Event,
SessionDataManager.getPermissionsSnapshot + USER_PERMISSIONS_UPDATED).

New public API in `useSessionSnapshots.ts`:
- useUserPermissions(): ReadonlyMap<string, number>  — full map
- useHasPermission(key): boolean                       — > 0 ⇒ true
- usePermissionValue(key): number                      — raw 1/2 or 0
- useIsAmbassador() now aliases useHasPermission('acc_ambassador')
- useUserRank() kept for PRESENTATIONAL use only (badge, prefix,
  prefix color) — documented as such in JSDoc; gating must use
  useHasPermission.

Dropped:
- src/api/nitro/session/RankLevels.ts (STAFF_LEVELS constants)
- useHasRankLevel / useIsRank exports (rank-based gating)

11 consumer migrations, each mapped to the right
`permission_definitions.permission_key`:

  - ToolbarView (mod-only chat-input button)        → acc_supporttool
  - ChooserWidgetView (room-object id column)       → acc_supporttool
  - CatalogClassicView (admin toggles)              → acc_catalogfurni
  - CatalogModernView (admin toggles)               → acc_catalogfurni
  - FurniEditorView (panel access)                  → acc_catalogfurni
  - CalendarView (force-open day)                   → acc_calendar_force
  - InfoStandWidgetFurniView (mod buildtools btn)   → acc_anyroomowner
  - AvatarInfoWidgetPetView (canPickUp)             → acc_anyroomowner
  - FurnitureMannequinView (controller mode)        → acc_anyroomowner
  - YouTubePlayerView (isMyRoom)                    → acc_anyroomowner
  - NavigatorRoomInfoView 'settings'                → acc_anyroomowner
  - NavigatorRoomInfoView 'staff_pick'              → acc_staff_pick

Test refresh:
- useUserRank still tested for the presentational shape.
- useHasPermission: true for non-zero, false for absent/zero.
- usePermissionValue: raw 1 / 2 / 0 (default).
- useUserPermissions: full map exposure.
- Runtime promote test: mutate the permissions map + dispatch
  USER_PERMISSIONS_UPDATED, assert useHasPermission flips false→true.
  Locks in the new reactive contract.

Mock unchanged (the test sets getPermissionsSnapshot via vi.mocked).

Verification: yarn typecheck clean, yarn lint:hooks clean, yarn test
214/214 (213 prior + 1 net new for useUserPermissions). Backward
compatible: older Arcturus deployments don't ship the map → empty
snapshot → every gate is false → mod UI hidden (safe default).

simoleo89 8aa02249e1 feat(hooks): rank-based API tied to permission_ranks DB table
Drop the SecurityLevel-named family (useIsModerator / useIsAdmin /
useIsCommunity / useIsPlayerSupport / useHasSecurityLevel /
useUserSecurityLevel) in favour of a rank-based family tied to the
operator's actual `permission_ranks` rows in the Arcturus DB:

- `useUserRank()` returns `{ id, name, level, badge, prefix,
  prefixColor }` derived from the snapshot. Powered by the renderer's
  extended IUserDataSnapshot (companion commit 87e67d5 on
  feat/react19-event-bus).
- `useHasRankLevel(min)` replaces useHasSecurityLevel; consumers
  pass a `permission_ranks.level` threshold from the deployment.
- `useIsRank(name)` matches `permission_ranks.rank_name` exactly.

To avoid bare integers in widget bodies, added a deployment-scoped
constants file at `src/api/nitro/session/RankLevels.ts`:

  export const STAFF_LEVELS = {
      MEMBER: 1, SUPPORT: 4, MOD: 5, SUPER_MOD: 6, ADMIN: 7
  };

A deployment that re-numbers `permission_ranks` only edits this file.

Migrated all 11 consumer reads (same set as the earlier session's
useIsModerator migration plus the audit catch): ToolbarView,
CatalogClassicView, CatalogModernView, ChooserWidgetView,
CalendarView, YouTubePlayerView, FurniEditorView,
InfoStandWidgetFurniView, AvatarInfoWidgetPetView,
FurnitureMannequinView, NavigatorRoomInfoView. The
NavigatorRoomInfoView `staff_pick` permission was previously
`securityLevel >= COMMUNITY (7)` via the renderer-enum wrapper —
ported to `useHasRankLevel(STAFF_LEVELS.ADMIN)` because in the
default seed level 7 is Administrator, which is the actual rank that
gets the `acc_anyroomowner`-style permissions for staff-picking.

Tests refreshed under `useSessionSnapshots.test.tsx`:
- useUserRank surfaces the full metadata block;
- useHasRankLevel does `>=` against the threshold;
- useIsRank exact-matches against rank_name;
- a runtime promote (snapshot mutation + SESSION_DATA_UPDATED
  dispatch) flips the result, locking in the reactive contract.

Mock extended only minimally — kept the SecurityLevel enum class for
any consumer outside the dropped family that still imports it.

Verification: yarn typecheck clean, yarn lint:hooks clean, yarn test
213/213. The Arcturus-side composer change (UserPermissionsComposer
appending the 5 extra fields) is staged but UNCOMMITTED on Arcturus
main (which has unrelated WIP); the wire is backward-compatible so
the React client works against both pre- and post-extension
emulators.

simoleo89 c11a6c4699 feat(hooks): generalise security-level family + audit catch + reactivity test
Build on the useIsModerator landing (532cb28c) along three axes:

1. Family. Extract `useHasSecurityLevel(min)` as the primitive,
   backed by a fresh `useUserSecurityLevel()` raw-level reader. The
   six SecurityLevel constants (1..9) deserve named wrappers so the
   "show this only to X-and-up" pattern doesn't get re-derived ad-hoc
   each time: shipped `useIsModerator` / `useIsPlayerSupport` /
   `useIsCommunity` / `useIsAdmin` as one-line shims. Also added
   `useIsAmbassador()` as a sibling — not derived from security level,
   reads the boolean field on the snapshot directly.

2. Audit. The 532cb28c migration covered 6 React-render reads but
   missed 5 more discovered by a follow-up grep:
   - FurniEditorView (top-level `const isMod`)
   - InfoStandWidgetFurniView (inline JSX, mod-only build-tools button)
   - NavigatorRoomInfoView (3 reads in hasPermission(): isModerator
     and securityLevel >= COMMUNITY for the staff-pick gate. The
     userId read stays imperative — userId doesn't flip at runtime in
     practice, no reactivity gain.)
   - AvatarInfoWidgetPetView (inside useMemo with [roomSession] deps;
     migrated and isModerator added to the deps so a runtime
     promote/demote re-derives canPickUp without remount)
   - FurnitureMannequinView (inside useEffect; same treatment — added
     isModerator to the deps so the mode re-resolves on flip)

   The remaining ~17 reads (CanManipulateFurniture,
   AvatarInfoUtilities.populate*, useChatInputActions,
   useFurnitureDimmerWidget / useFurniturePlaylistEditorWidget /
   useFurnitureStickieWidget canModify checks, useCatalog admin
   filter, useNavigator door-mode guard) are click-time / event-time
   imperative — they read at the moment a user action fires, so a
   reactive value would be cached at hook execution and stale by the
   time the action runs. Leaving them on the synchronous manager read
   is correct.

3. Test. Added four cases pinning the contract:
   - useUserSecurityLevel returns the raw level.
   - useHasSecurityLevel does `>=` against the threshold.
   - Named wrappers map to the right constants (MODERATOR=5,
     COMMUNITY=7, ADMINISTRATOR=8).
   - **Reactive flip** — mutate the snapshot, dispatch the
     SESSION_DATA_UPDATED event on the mock dispatcher, assert the
     hook re-derives. Locks in the whole point of the snapshot
     pattern (a static read would pass cases 1-3 but fail case 4).

Mock changes:
- Added SecurityLevel class (mirrors the renderer enum 0..9) so the
  family wrappers resolve to actual numbers in jsdom — without it
  `useIsModerator()` would call `useHasSecurityLevel(undefined)` and
  the test would silently pass false-positives.

Verification: yarn typecheck clean, yarn lint:hooks clean, yarn test
213/213 (209 baseline + 4 new family/reactivity cases).

simoleo89 532cb28ca7 feat(hooks): useIsModerator() + migrate 6 component reads
Adds a reactive `useIsModerator()` derived from
`useUserDataSnapshot().securityLevel >= SecurityLevel.MODERATOR`
(mirrors the renderer-side getter at SessionDataManager.ts:684), and
migrates the six React component-body reads of
`GetSessionDataManager().isModerator`:

- ToolbarView (mod-only chat-input button)
- CatalogClassicView, CatalogModernView (admin toggles in catalog
  header)
- ChooserWidgetView (room-object id column visibility)
- YouTubePlayerView (room-control affordance — hook moved above the
  `if (!isOpen) return null` early return so the hook order stays
  stable when the player opens/closes)
- CalendarView (mod-only "open all" affordance)

UX impact: any future promote/demote that flips
SESSION_DATA_UPDATED now re-renders the mod-only UI live, instead of
requiring an F5. Imperative call sites
(AvatarInfoUtilities.populate*, CanManipulateFurniture,
RoomChatHandler) still read the manager directly — they run at click
time, not in a React render, so reactivity has no upside there.

Five of the six call sites are top-level component-body reads (no
early-return interaction). YouTubePlayerView has an
`if (!isOpen) return null` below the hook list, so the hook had to
move ABOVE it; same shape as the recent CatalogPurchaseWidgetView and
CatalogItemGridWidgetView fixes.

Verification: yarn typecheck clean, yarn lint:hooks clean, yarn test
209/209.

simoleo89 d28819db89 fix(snapshots): re-apply the 3 snapshot-consumer migrations with the use-between/useSyncExternalStore incompatibility resolved
Root cause of last session's "(intermediate value)() is undefined" at
ToolbarView.tsx:46:

  use-between 1.x ships its own React-dispatcher proxy (ownDispatcher
  in node_modules/use-between/release/index.esm.js:54-169) that
  re-implements only useState, useReducer, useEffect, useLayoutEffect,
  useCallback, useMemo, useRef and useImperativeHandle. It does NOT
  implement useSyncExternalStore. When the inner state function of
  useBetween(stateFn) calls useSyncExternalStore (directly or via
  useExternalSnapshot / useUserDataSnapshot), React resolves the
  dispatcher to use-between's proxy, finds .useSyncExternalStore
  missing, and calls undefined() — that's the exact production crash
  in Firefox. Chrome reports the same as
  "dispatcher.useSyncExternalStore is not a function".

Neither the vite alias (790ad2b) nor the defensive renderer-method
guards (c35a2d4) could fix it — both addressed downstream symptoms
(stale dist / missing manager methods) but the dispatcher is upstream
of both. That's why every retry kept reproducing the same error.

Fix is structural: snapshot hooks (useUserDataSnapshot,
useIsUserIgnored, etc.) MUST run outside any useBetween scope. Three
re-applied migrations:

- useSessionInfo: snapshot read moved into the outer wrapper. The
  inner useSessionInfoState (useBetween-shared) now contains only
  use-between-safe hooks: useState, useMessageEvent, plain actions.
  userFigure / userRespectRemaining / petRespectRemaining come from
  useUserDataSnapshot() OUTSIDE useBetween, so useSyncExternalStore
  installs against the real React dispatcher.

- useChatWidget.ownUserId: direct snapshot read. useChatWidget is
  exported as `useChatWidget = useChatWidgetState` (NOT wrapped in
  useBetween), so this hook never sat inside the broken scope — the
  precautionary rollback was unnecessary in retrospect. Gains
  session-change reactivity (e.g. reconnect under a different user id).

- AvatarInfoWidgetAvatarView Ignore/Unignore: useIsUserIgnored(name)
  read directly in the component body. Same reasoning as
  useChatWidget — never inside useBetween. The menu auto-flips
  Ignore <-> Unignore while the popup is open.

Added regression guard at src/hooks/session/useSessionSnapshots.test.tsx
with two cases: (1) useSyncExternalStore inside useBetween throws,
(2) useSyncExternalStore outside useBetween in the same render works.
Pins the constraint so future migrations cannot reintroduce the bad
shape silently.

Verification: yarn typecheck clean, yarn test 209/209 (207 baseline
+ 2 new regression cases), no consumer surface changes — every
destructured field (userFigure, userRespectRemaining, respectUser,
petRespectRemaining, respectPet, chatStyleId, updateChatStyleId) is
still returned with the same name and shape.

simoleo89 e142efd793 revert(hooks): roll back the three snapshot-consumer migrations to pre-71a0eee state
The migrations of useSessionInfo, useChatWidget.ownUserId and the
AvatarInfo Ignore/Unignore menu to the new useSessionSnapshots hooks
were correct in code but produce a persistent runtime error in the
user's deployment:

  TypeError: (intermediate value)() is undefined
      ToolbarView ToolbarView.tsx:46

The error fires from React's render loop on the first paint —
ToolbarView is the first mounted consumer of useSessionInfo, which is
why it carries the boundary message. Two attempted fixes did not
resolve it on the user's side:
- 790ad2b: vite alias forcing @nitrots/nitro-renderer to source index.ts
- c35a2d4: defensive typeof guards on every Manager method call inside
  useSessionSnapshots (so a missing method degrades to a frozen default
  rather than calling undefined)

Both are correct defenses but the error persists, meaning the failure
mode is upstream of those guards. Rather than burn more cycles
remote-debugging, roll back the three consumer migrations:

- useSessionInfo: restored to the pre-71a0eee shape — 5 useState
  fields driven by useMessageEvent<UserInfoEvent, FigureUpdateEvent,
  UserSettingsEvent>. The five consumers (ToolbarView, HcCenterView,
  ChatInputView, AvatarInfoPetTrainingPanelView, InfoStandWidgetPetView,
  AvatarInfo{Avatar,Pet,OwnPet}View) get the same destructured shape
  they had before this session.
- useChatWidget.ownUserId: restored to `GetSessionDataManager()?.userId`
  (synchronous, captured at mount). Loses the session-change reactivity
  but matches the previous, working behaviour.
- AvatarInfoWidgetAvatarView Ignore/Unignore: restored to
  `avatarInfo.isIgnored` (captured by AvatarInfoUtilities at click
  time, not reactive). Loses the live-toggle if the user is
  ignored/unignored while the popup is open — known small regression,
  worth it for stability.

Kept intact:
- The useSessionSnapshots.ts hook file itself, with defensive guards,
  so the API stays available for any future opt-in consumer.
- 790ad2b vite alias for the umbrella, still useful as defence in
  depth for future migrations.
- All the other non-snapshot modernizations from this session
  (usePetPackageWidget reducer, useWordQuizWidget bug fix,
  useChatCommandSelector Zustand store, useAvatarInfoWidget typed
  globalThis accessor).

Verification: yarn typecheck clean, yarn test 207/207, yarn build green.
The toolbar should boot without the error now — the call chain on the
first paint no longer touches the new useExternalSnapshot / snapshot
getter path.

simoleo89 36addbe7d4 fix(avatar-info): reactive Ignore/Unignore menu entry via useIsUserIgnored
The Ignore <-> Unignore context-menu entry was driven by
avatarInfo.isIgnored — a boolean captured by AvatarInfoUtilities once,
at the time the avatar was clicked. If the user got ignored / unignored
*while the popup was already open* (e.g. via the friends panel, or
because a server push flipped the state), the menu kept showing the
stale option and clicking it would no-op (or worse, double-ignore).

Switch the menu items to read useIsUserIgnored(avatarInfo.name) — the
reactive hook backed by IgnoredUsersManager.getIgnoredUsersSnapshot()
+ NitroEventType.IGNORED_USERS_UPDATED. Now the menu flips automatically
the moment the ignore list changes, without re-opening.

avatarInfo.isIgnored stays on the data object (other code paths still
consume it) — only the user-facing menu toggle is now reactive.

simoleo89 ab93113ce7 widgets: wrap each room + furniture widget in its own WidgetErrorBoundary
The umbrella boundary on RoomWidgetsView caught any widget crash but
unmounted every sibling along with the failing widget — a single bad
parser in ChatWidget would dark out the avatar info, chat input,
doorbell and all furniture overlays until the next remount.

Wraps each of the 13 direct children of RoomWidgetsView (AvatarInfo,
Chat, ChatInput, Doorbell, RoomTools, RoomFilterWords, RoomThumbnail,
FurniChooser, PetPackage, UserChooser, WordQuiz, FriendRequest, plus
the FurnitureWidgets umbrella) and each of the 20 sub-widgets inside
FurnitureWidgetsView in its own named WidgetErrorBoundary. A crash
now silently logs through NitroLogger with the widget name and
renders null for that one widget; every sibling keeps rendering.

The outer umbrella stays as defense-in-depth for the wrapper div and
the listener setup in RoomWidgetsView itself.

Closes the "Per-widget WidgetErrorBoundary wrapping" roadmap item;
updates CLAUDE.md and docs/ARCHITECTURE.md accordingly.

simoleo89 019295226d Sweep targeted typecheck errors: 11 fixes across 9 files
- ProductImageUtility: 'CatalogPageMessageProductData.I' was clearly a
  placeholder/typo in the WALL branch — getProductCategory's first
  param is FurnitureType, so use the enclosing productType.
- YouTubePlayerView: IRoomUserData has webID, not userId. Two
  spectator/watcher-list sites used the wrong field.
- AvatarInfoWidgetView REQUEST_MANIPULATION handler: avatarInfo is
  IAvatarInfo (union); .category / .id only exist on AvatarInfoFurni.
  Type-guard before reading.
- InfoStandWidgetPetView: deleted the duplicate local 'interface
  AvatarInfoPet' — was shadowing the imported one. Drop AvatarInfoPet
  from the import (local interface stands alone).
- FurnitureExternalImageView: missing GetSessionDataManager import (the
  reportedUserId field reads it inline). Added.
- GroupCreatorView setGroupData call: null values for groupName /
  groupDescription / groupColors / groupBadgeParts where IGroupData
  expects string / number[] / GroupBadgePart[]. Empty defaults. Also
  added the previously-omitted groupHasForum field.
- ContextMenuView + WiredCreatorToolsView: 'return () =>
  ticker.remove(updateOverlays)' — Pixi Ticker.remove() returns the
  ticker, leaking the value to React's EffectCallback cleanup which
  expects 'void | (() => void)'. Wrap in block body.
- Deleted src/components/room/widgets/chat/ChatWidgetWindowView_old.tsx
  — dead code (zero references in the codebase), tripping the
  NitroCardHeaderView onCloseClick prop change.

Net tsgo error count: -11.

simoleo89 a39aa37231 React 19: useRef<T>() -> useRef<T>(null) across 15 sites
React 19 dropped the no-arg useRef overload — the type-only useRef<T>()
form (no initial value) is gone, every call must pass an initial value.
The codebase had 15 occurrences of useRef<HTMLDivElement>() (DOM ref
pattern) all flagged by tsgo as 'Expected 1 arguments, but got 0'.

Mechanical sweep to useRef<HTMLDivElement>(null) — no behavior change,
React still hands out a ref object with .current set to null at mount.

simoleo89 559d860a7b Pilot: move InfoStand event listeners to useAvatarInfoWidget owner
InfoStandWidgetUserView previously subscribed to three room-session
events (RSUBE_BADGES, USER_FIGURE, FAVOURITE_GROUP_UPDATE) and pushed
the result back to its parent via a setAvatarInfo prop, with each
handler running CloneObject(prev) before patching one field. Three
issues with that shape:

- CloneObject was deep-cloning the whole AvatarInfoUser shape blindly
  with no class-prototype awareness;
- the three listeners raced on shallow merges across the same prev
  reference in StrictMode dev;
- the subscriptions lived outside the state owner, forcing a prop
  callback barrier per event.

The subscriptions are now in useAvatarInfoWidget — the actual owner of
avatarInfo — and call three pure reducers extracted to
src/hooks/rooms/widgets/avatarInfo.reducers.ts (applyUserBadgesUpdate,
applyUserFigureUpdate, applyFavouriteGroupUpdate). Each reducer returns
the same reference when the event doesn't apply so React bail-outs work.
The clone now constructs a fresh AvatarInfoUser preserving prototype.

dedupeBadges is extracted to its own pure module under src/api/avatar/
so Vitest can cover it without pulling in the renderer.

InfoStandWidgetUserView loses the setAvatarInfo prop (parent updated)
and the CloneObject import.

simoleo89 419de09638 Hoist usePollSubscriptions to RoomWidgetsView; drop the side effect from usePollWidget
Follow-up to the previous commit's poll split. The compat shim
usePollWidget used to call usePollSubscriptions() inside its body so
the three RoomSessionPollEvent listeners were still registered for
existing consumers — but that meant:
- listeners would be re-registered per consumer (today nobody, since
  useWordQuizWidget was already migrated to usePollActions);
- the lifetime of the subscriptions was tied to a leaf widget instead
  of the room session;
- a render of a component using the shim had the side effect of
  attaching three global event listeners.

Move
- src/components/room/widgets/RoomWidgetsView.tsx now calls
  usePollSubscriptions() once at the top of the room-widget tree. The
  bridge from RoomSessionPollEvent (OFFER/ERROR/CONTENT) to the UI
  event bus is now mounted for exactly the lifetime of an in-room
  session, regardless of which leaf widget renders.
- src/hooks/rooms/widgets/usePollWidget.ts (compat shim) is reduced
  to a one-liner that just returns usePollActions(). It is still
  deprecated; remove once nothing imports it.

Verification
- yarn eslint on the two touched files: 1 pre-existing error
  (the same FC<{}> in RoomWidgetsView that was there before — baseline
  unchanged; I deliberately did not touch it in this commit to keep
  the diff minimal).
- yarn test: 22/22 still passing.
- grep confirms usePollWidget has zero in-tree consumers; the only
  importer is the barrel re-export.

simoleo89 0755285708 Revert feature-folder migration; keep classic src/components + src/hooks layout
Decision: the src/features/<feature>/ layout introduced as proposal #3
(pilot on doorbell in 8ec9d27) is not the convention the team wants. The
existing src/components/<area>/ + src/hooks/<area>/ split is the one
that stays.

What's reverted
- src/features/doorbell/ is removed entirely. The doorbell view and the
  two hooks move back under the classic paths:
    src/features/doorbell/views/DoorbellWidgetView.tsx
      -> src/components/room/widgets/doorbell/DoorbellWidgetView.tsx
    src/features/doorbell/hooks/useDoorbellState.ts
      -> src/hooks/rooms/widgets/useDoorbellState.ts
    src/features/doorbell/hooks/useDoorbellActions.ts
      -> src/hooks/rooms/widgets/useDoorbellActions.ts
- The compat shims that lived in those classic paths are dropped now
  that the real files are back.
- src/hooks/rooms/widgets/index.ts adds the two new hooks alongside the
  existing useDoorbellWidget shim (kept as a deprecated wrapper so any
  external consumer importing the old shape via the barrel keeps
  working).

What's preserved
- The split between data and actions (proposal #4) — useDoorbellState
  and useDoorbellActions remain two separate hooks. This was the actual
  improvement, and it's independent of where the files sit.
- The bug fixes from 8ec9d27 (close button race, optimistic-remove
  rollback) — both still present, just in the new path.
- src/state/createNitroStore.ts and src/api/nitro-query/createNitroQuery.ts
  are left where they are. They aren't feature folders; they're
  cross-cutting framework code (Zustand skeleton, React Query adapter
  prototype) that any feature can consume.

Doc
- docs/ARCHITECTURE.md section #3 is rewritten to record the decision
  rather than recommend the layout. It now describes the convention to
  follow:
    * views under src/components/<area>/<feature>/
    * hooks under src/hooks/<area>/<feature?>/ (siblings, not subfolders
      per widget)
    * sibling .types/.constants/.helpers files for view-specific code
      (e.g. WiredCreatorTools.*.ts)
- "What's already in place" and "Recently fixed" sections updated to
  point at the new paths.
- "How to pick the next refactor PR" no longer mentions feature-folder
  migration as an option.

Note: the five extra feature folders started this session (reconnect,
nitropedia, ads, hc-center, campaign) were never committed; they only
existed in the working tree and have been restored from HEAD.

Verification
- find src/features -type f -> 0 (directory removed).
- npx tsc --noEmit on all touched files: clean (only the project-wide
  pre-existing TS2307 about @nitrots/nitro-renderer not installed
  locally remains, same as before).
- npx eslint on all touched files: 0 errors, 0 warnings.

simoleo89 81656e7b19 Fix two logic bugs found while refactoring + document the open ones
These are the bugs surfaced during the structural work that are simple
enough to fix in isolation. Larger ones (race conditions that need
session-token tracking, async-fetch ordering) are deferred and documented
in docs/ARCHITECTURE.md "Known logic bugs" — the repo has Issues
disabled, so the doc is the issue board.

== Fix: room history wiped on every tab close

src/components/room/widgets/room-tools/RoomToolsWidgetView.tsx had a
useEffect that registered a `beforeunload` handler calling
`window.localStorage.removeItem('nitro.room.history')`. The whole point
of localStorage is to persist across sessions; wiping it on tab close is
either a leftover debug call or a misunderstanding of the API.

Removed the handler. History now persists across browser sessions, which
matches user expectations. If "session-only" was the intent, the right
primitive is `sessionStorage` (not localStorage + cleanup) — left as a
note in the doc.

== Fix: AvatarInfoPetTrainingPanelView null-pointer on session change

src/components/room/widgets/avatar-info/AvatarInfoPetTrainingPanelView.tsx
read `roomSession.userDataManager.getPetData(parser.petId)` without
guarding for `roomSession` being null. The PetTrainingPanelMessageEvent
can arrive during a room transition when `roomSession` is briefly null,
crashing the widget. Added `?.` chain on both `roomSession` and
`userDataManager`.

== Doc: known logic bugs section

Two open issues documented for follow-up:
- MainView.tsx CREATED/ENDED race — needs session-token tracking, fits
  cleanly into the future useNitroEventReducer companion to proposal #1.
- LayoutFurniImageView / LayoutAvatarImageView async fetch ordering —
  needs request-id refs, or solves itself once React Query (proposal #2)
  is enabled and the image fetch becomes a query keyed on props.

Plus a "recently fixed" subsection that records the four bugs already
addressed in this branch (doorbell close button, doorbell optimistic
remove, room history wipe, pet panel null-pointer) so the next reader
knows what changed and why.

== Verification

- yarn eslint on the two modified files: same error count before and
  after (5 pre-existing set-state-in-effect on RoomToolsWidgetView,
  none introduced).
- yarn tsc on the two modified files: clean.

simoleo89 48d62c5c6b Architecture refactor: docs + 5 pilot implementations + error boundary
This is the structural plan promised in the previous session, with concrete
pilots for all five proposals + the bonus error-boundary work.

== docs/ARCHITECTURE.md (new, ~370 lines)

Living document describing:
- where the project stands today (event-bus pattern friction with React 19,
  god-hooks, oversized files);
- the five proposed structural improvements with the why/how/status of each;
- what's already in place across this branch;
- recommended order for the next refactor PRs.

This is the deliverable the rest of this commit references.

== Proposal #3 + #4 pilots: src/features/doorbell/ (new)

Concrete feature-folder migration on the doorbell widget (chosen because
it's small enough to migrate end-to-end in one commit).

  src/features/doorbell/
    index.ts                    public API
    views/DoorbellWidgetView.tsx
    hooks/useDoorbellState.ts reduces 3 events into a users array (data only)
    hooks/useDoorbellActions.ts answer(name, flag) (imperative actions only)

The split (data vs actions) is the pattern proposal #4 wants applied to
useCatalog/useChat/useWiredTools later. The original useDoorbellWidget had
both concerns + a buggy `useEffect(() => setIsVisible(!!users.length), [users])`
derive-state-in-effect. The new view computes visibility in render.

Compat shims kept so existing imports keep working:
- src/components/room/widgets/doorbell/DoorbellWidgetView.tsx -> 1-line re-export
- src/hooks/rooms/widgets/useDoorbellWidget.ts -> deprecated wrapper around
  the two new hooks, returning the same { users, answer } shape.

== Proposal #2 prototype: src/api/nitro-query/ (new)

Adapter outline for wrapping composer/parser request-response pairs in
TanStack Query. Not yet enabled because @tanstack/react-query is not in
package.json. The file documents the activation steps:

  yarn add @tanstack/react-query @tanstack/react-query-devtools
  + mount QueryClientProvider in src/index.tsx

awaitNitroResponse() throws with a helpful pointer to the doc section if
called before activation, so accidental adoption fails loudly.

== Proposal #5 skeleton: src/state/createNitroStore.ts (new)

Same pattern: skeleton + activation instructions. Not yet enabled because
zustand is not in package.json.

  yarn add zustand
  + replace the throw with `import { create } from 'zustand'; export const createNitroStore = create;`

The doc inside the file shows the recommended slice shape and points to
the suggested first migration target (the let isCreatingRoom singleton in
NavigatorRoomCreatorView).

== Bonus: WidgetErrorBoundary

src/common/error-boundary/WidgetErrorBoundary.tsx wraps react-error-boundary
with a sensible default (silent fallback, NitroLogger.error). Re-exported
from src/common/index.ts.

Applied as the umbrella around RoomWidgetsView's children — a widget
crash in a room (e.g. malformed pet data) now degrades gracefully
instead of unmounting the whole UI.

== Verification

- yarn eslint on all new + modified files: 0 errors / 0 warnings introduced.
  RoomWidgetsView still has its 1 pre-existing FC<{}> error (1 before, 1 after).
- yarn tsc on all new files: clean (only project-wide pre-existing
  TS2307 about @nitrots/nitro-renderer not installed locally remains).
- No regressions: existing imports of DoorbellWidgetView and
  useDoorbellWidget keep resolving via the compat shims.

== What's NOT in this commit (intentionally)

- Mass adoption of the new patterns elsewhere — left as follow-up PRs in
  the order documented in ARCHITECTURE.md "How to pick the next refactor PR".
- Installation of @tanstack/react-query / zustand — explicit team decision,
  not the LLM's to make.
- Test infrastructure (Vitest setup) — listed as the #1 missing piece in
  the doc, but a separate PR.

simoleo89 39eb2c6b84 Phase C (targeted): clear 4 set-state-in-effect violations on safe candidates
Fix only the cases that are unambiguous anti-patterns; leave the
event-driven setState patterns (useNitroEvent / useMessageEvent
subscriptions, async fetches with cleanup) alone since they're
legitimate in this architecture.

- src/components/catalog/views/catalog-header/CatalogHeaderView.tsx:
  displayImageUrl was pure-derived from imageUrl. Drop the useState +
  useEffect entirely; compute in render.
- src/components/navigator/views/NavigatorRoomCreatorView.tsx:
  the maxVisitors list (10..100 step 10) and roomModels/selectedModel
  came from static config; convert to module-level MAX_VISITORS_LIST
  constant + useState lazy initializers. Removes 2 init effects.
  setCategory(categories[0].id) is left as-is because categories
  arrives async from a hook.
- src/components/login/LoginView.tsx:
  Replace useEffect(() => setLocalError(null), [step]) with the
  React-recommended "track previous prop" render-time reset:
  if(prevStep !== step) { setPrevStep(step); setLocalError(null); }
  Same observable behavior, no extra render.
- src/components/room/widgets/choosers/ChooserWidgetView.tsx:
  Wrap the selectItem callback prop call in useEffectEvent so a
  parent re-render that changes selectItem identity doesn't
  re-fire the visualizer side-effects.

Net: 4 fewer set-state-in-effect violations; behavior preserved.
The remaining ~328 violations across the codebase are predominantly
legitimate event-bus / async-fetch patterns and need per-case
review with running app, not a sweep.

simoleo89 535fa71020 ESLint --fix: auto-fix brace-style, indent, semi, no-trailing-spaces
Run eslint --fix across src/ to clear ~1900 mechanical lint errors
surfaced by the @typescript-eslint v8 + react-hooks v7 + react-compiler
upgrade in the React 19 modernization PR.

Issues fixed automatically:
- brace-style (Allman): try/catch one-liners reformatted to multi-line
- indent: tab-vs-space and depth corrections
- semi: missing trailing semicolons
- no-trailing-spaces

No semantic changes. Remaining 701 errors are real-code issues
(set-state-in-effect, rules-of-hooks, no-unsafe-* type checks) that
need manual per-file review.

simoleo89 72bc4da3c0 feat(profile): add full-box card background tab and rendering
Adds a "Cards" tab to the Profile Background picker (BackgroundsView)
that selects a pattern applied to the entire user info card and the
extended profile container, in addition to the existing avatar-pad
background/stand/overlay layers.

- AvatarInfoUser/Utilities: propagate cardBackgroundId from RoomUserData.
- InfoStandWidgetUserView: stateful cardBackgroundId, applied as
  .profile-card-background.card-background-{id} on the outer Column
  with bg-color suppressed when active.
- UserContainerView: same class on the wrapper of the extended profile.
- BackgroundsView: 4th tab "cards" backed by cards.data config
  (falls back to backgrounds.data); sends 4-id message via the
  extended sendBackgroundMessage signature.
- ui-config.example: cards.data dataset (15 entries).
- BackgroundsView.css: 188 .card-background-{N} rules cloned from
  background-{N} (repeat-tiled) plus 15 CSS-pattern overrides for the
  provisional dataset (gradients, stripes, dots, grid, checker).
